Enterprise Content Management (ECM) is primarily about generating strategies, which might include both technology solutions and management/team issues, for managing and deploying the capture, storage, security, revision control, retrieval, distribution, preservation and destruction of documents and content. ECM is a complex field and it can be difficult for organisations as large as public sector bodies to combine theory and practise in this area to generate workable solutions. Infocycle has both deep specialisation and the ability to communicate that in different ways, combined with the people skills to bring the development path into focus and win support. Often an ECM deployment begins with a major software purchase; Infocycle can be of considerable assistance during the procurement phase with both objective market advice and vendor relations support, but we also aim to bring accurate and comprehensive specification and definition to the tasks, so that the correct product fit and rollout method is achieved. In recent years, some ECM solutions in government have proven to be extremely innapropriate or badly fitted. Infocycle is aware of the detailed histories of these failed solutions and can bring forward learning from those experiences to new ECM deployments or involvements. In addition to the core activities within the ECM specialism, many other related software and process fields including everything from knowledge mining to optical character recognition and graphics automation to plugins for MS Office can become issues. We aim to have pools of current learning in all of the related activity fields and to bring forward appropriate consultants, services and expertise when they are needed.
